Training and Development Role

 

  • Job Purpose: To develop, coordinate, and conduct training workshops, and support trainees in training others and programme implementation.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop Annual Training Plan: Create an annual training plan for approval by the COO and Grant manager, and set measurable training targets and project outcomes for training.
  • Identify Training Needs: Conduct training needs analysis workshops where necessary.
  • Ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate training done at facilitator level, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of community training and training partnerships.
  • Provide Oversight and Support: Provide oversight and support for AYFS trainers.
  • Community-Based Programmes: Plan and initiate various community-based programmes and workshops where necessary, as well as the support and follow-up of these programmes.
  • Facilitate Programmes: Facilitate all programmes trainings and write training reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance for all trainings.
  • Feedback and Reports: Provide feedback, regular reports, and financial reconciliation of training activities.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Conduct and/or assist with training where necessary, including the necessary preparation, planning, and implementation of these courses.
  • Training Projects: Ongoing planning of training projects and liaison with various training partners to ensure successful training outcomes.
  • Database Maintenance: Develop and maintain a database of trained facilitators and other stakeholders.
  • Project Reports: Give input with writing of project annual and/or close-out reports.
  • Training Partners: Conduct training for partners, as per the organisation's request from time to time.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and assistance to partners, to improve and/or maintain –
  • Facilitation Standards: A high standard of facilitation
  • Fidelity in Delivery: Fidelity in the delivery of training sessions
  • Programme Data: A high quality of program data and reporting

 

Financial Management:
  • Budget Preparation: In consultation with Grants Manager and aligned to the approved training plan, prepare the annual budget for all training required.
  • Invoice Management: Co-ordinate the receipt, checking, and submission of invoices to the Finance Unit to facilitate timeous payment.
  • Expenditure Monitoring: Monitor monthly actual expenditure against budgets, identify variances, and ensure that the necessary follow-up action is taken.
  • Service Provider Management: Manage service providers/suppliers in accordance with the terms and conditions of the relevant contracts.
  • Value for Money: Undertake spending with due regard to value for money and ensure that service provider pricing is competitive.
  • Expenditure Projections: Prepare expenditure projections as and when required.
  • Financial Policies: Comply with all financial policies and procedures (including procurement).

 

Human Resources Management:
  • Accountability: Take ownership and accountability for all deliverables and responsibilities assigned to this role.
  • Training and Coaching: In consultation with the Grants Manager, identify own training and coaching requirements to achieve optimal performance.
  • Team Development: Contribute to the development of a committed team with individuals who work well together and provide each other with mutual support, assistance, and cooperation.
  • HR Policies: Comply with all HR policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualifications: An appropriate diploma/degree in education/training.
  • Experience: At least 3 years proven experience in education, training, and project management.
  • Extensive Experience: Extensive experience as trainer.

  • Project Management: Sound project management skills and understanding of project management processes and methodologies.
  • Planning and Organisation: Excellent planning and organisation skills.
  • Microsoft Office: Excellent proficiency in MS Office – including word, excel, powerpoint, and outlook.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Language Skills: Communication skills in other South African languages.
  • Meticulous: Meticulous and able to pay attention to detail.
  • Data Analysis: Able to interpret data and information in order to generate reports.
  • Report Writing: Good report writing skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills.
  • Multi-tasking: Able to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Self-motivation: Self-motivated, a self-starter, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Pressure Management: Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license and own transport are essential.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel outside of Johannesburg.
  • Initiative: Able to use own initiative and take ownership of his/her tasks.
  • Team Player: Good team player.
  • Data Analysis: Able to analyse and evaluate data and information.
  • Creative Ideas: Able to generate and adapt creative ideas and solutions to improve performance.
