Job Overview

The Intercare Medfem Hospital in Bryanston, Sandton, seeks a motivated, talented, and goal-driven individual to fill the role of Unit Manager for Theatre and Ward. This position involves coordinating all functions and activities related to the provision of quality patient care in a hospital environment, ensuring excellent service to doctors, visitors, and support services, while motivating and supporting staff performance and education to achieve optimum unit functioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with doctors' requirements and expectations, staying within the scope of practice and advocating for patients.
  • Manage all related nursing services and activities in the unit, aligning with Intercare objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain effective discipline according to Intercare's Code of Conduct and disciplinary codes.
  • Ensure safe and correct use of all equipment.
  • Monthly monitoring of cost centre expenditure against budget.
  • Maintain effective relationships with specialists, external bodies, and associations.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with SANC registration.
  • Post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre technique essential.
  • Relevant management experience of at least 3 years.
  • At least 5 years' experience in an Operating Theatre.
  • Conflict handling and performance management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
