Cold End Operations Manager

Job Summary:

SA Metal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cold End Controller to join our team at our Airport Industria branch in Cape Town. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Cold End Department and providing support to our senior operators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backup and Support: Act as a backup for all operators, controllers, and assistants, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Quality Management: Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of excellence.
  • Shift Management: Control activities of the senior operators sensibly, ensuring that the shift runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Incident Reporting: Communicate general incidents (delays, failures, etc.) via the correct channels, and investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintenance and Optimization: Perform daily checks and monitoring on the machinery at the Cold end, and optimize production output by constantly monitoring parameters (cut lengths, last cuts, shorts, etc.).
  • Occupational Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and implement measures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Matric (Maths compulsory), Diploma or studying towards a qualification in Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in a production or mechanical environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation), ability to detect machine discrepancies, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Attributes: Team player, concentration and precision, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent standards in execution.
