Job Description

**Role Overview:**

The SHAWCO Law Project is seeking a highly organized and communicative individual to fill the role of Volunteer Relations Coordinator. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless communication between the committee and volunteers, as well as maintaining accurate records of volunteer hours and community service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scheduling and Reminders: Send weekly reminders to volunteers about upcoming sessions, keep them informed about lesson plans, track attendance, and maintain detailed records of community service hours.
  2. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer activities, including hours logged and any notable achievements.
  3. Volunteer Registration: Ensure that all volunteers are registered each week, either in person or online.
  4. Backup Copies: Keep backup copies of all records, both digital and physical, to ensure continuity in case of technical issues or other unforeseen circumstances.
  5. Absentee Communication: Diarize absentees and communicate with committee members as needed.
  6. Volunteer Allocation: Allocate volunteers to sessions based on their availability and skills.
  7. Weekly Reminders: Send weekly reminders to volunteers via WhatsApp or Vula announcement.
  8. Lesson Plan Updates: Keep volunteers informed about lesson plans and any changes.
  9. Volunteer Concerns: Communicate volunteer concerns to the committee promptly.

Requirements:

  1. Eligibility: Be a registered UCT law student during the relevant academic years.
  2. Course Completion: Have completed the Constitutional Law course (PBL200W).
  3. Mission Alignment: Demonstrate commitment to the mission of SHAWCO organization.
  4. Skills: Possess excellent time management, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  5. Leadership Experience: Having previous experience in leadership roles would be advantageous.
  6. Passion for Community Development: Show passion for community development and a desire to make a positive impact.
  7. Academic Standing: Be in good academic standing at UCT.
