Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Director to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the laboratory's daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing quality control measures to maintain excellent standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the laboratory staff, including training and development programs.
  • Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services with clinical practices.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results to clinicians and patients.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to inform decision-making and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and optimal cost containment.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, advancements in technology, and changes in regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Clinical Pathology or related field.
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in laboratory management, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Estimated Salary: R800,000 - R1,200,000 per annum.
