Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage multiple construction projects across Southern Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, specifically in building and structural construction, and will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Management:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant construction regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.
    • Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution and resolving issues promptly.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination:
    • Lead and mentor project teams across multiple sites in Southern Africa.
    • Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Financial Oversight:
    • Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Identify and mitigate project risks.
    • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee all aspects of quality management throughout the construction process.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Professional Registration: Registered with a recognized professional body (ECSA, SACPCMP, or equivalent).
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in civil engineering, specifically in building and structural construction.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in construction project management software and tools.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex, multidisciplinary construction projects.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present project updates and liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Contract Terms:
  • Contract Duration: The initial contract will be for the duration of the project, with potential for extension depending on project timelines and performance.
