You will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent, equitable, and sustainable services across the charity.

Our chefs are responsible for preparing meals for our residents, their families, and colleagues in our vibrant café space. They also provide personalized catering services for our care home residents, ensuring they have access to healthy and balanced diets all year round.

Purpose of the Role:

You will prepare, cook, and present food safely and efficiently using high-quality ingredients according to the college's standards, health and safety, and food hygiene practices. You will work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to contribute new ideas to support the catering manager in creating new dishes and updating seasonal menus.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen and back-of-house areas
  • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure it remains safe to use
  • Regularly check inventory levels to prevent stock shortages
  • Inspect ingredients for quality and freshness before use
  • Cook healthy and nutritious dishes in accordance with our menus
  • Adapt recipes to cater for special dietary requirements where necessary
  • Complete all relevant company documentation and records during your shift
  • Comply with statutory and organizational requirements, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Fire Safety
  • Minimize waste and follow wastage recording procedures
  • Manage deliveries and report any losses or damages to the manager on duty
  • Work safely with kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues to the manager on duty
  • Keep knowledge up to date by completing mandatory and CPD training online or face-to-face
  • Adhere to the college's standards, policies, and procedures
  • Carry out management team requests and instructions
