Pan Boiler

My client is currently looking for a Pan Boiler. This position reporting in the Refinery section. This position reports to the Production Shift Foreman - Refinery.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Be able to boil any grade of massecuites in batch pans with minimum delays
- Maintain stock levels in order to achieve the planned Refinery melt rate.
- Must be able to cycle pans to prevent any bottlenecks in order to achieve the required number of strikes per shift
- Be fully aware of the quality profile on the various grades of massecuites boiled and notify Foreman of any abnormal changes timeously.
- Strike massecuites at the required brixes.
- Must be fully aware of entrainment that may occur from any pan and must be able to take the necessary corrective action to prevent any loss of sugar from any pan.
- Carry out pan inspection on schedule stop dates and report any defects for remedial action by maintenance department.
- Be proactive by watching the various product stocks, strike receiver levels and centrifugal operation and adjust pan cycles in order to get the maximum production with minimum delays and minimum losses (i.e. avoid supply tanks from overflowing).
- Carry out all operations as per ISO 22000 standards and FSSC 22000 (knowing all the operating parameters in the Refinery) under safe conditions and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the year.
- Records / reports any maintenance / changes that may be required on stop days or off-crop and beable to do minor maintenance on the run.
- Be able to have a valuable input and participate in the decision-making process on pan floor in theRefinery.
- Must take ownership for the section - housekeeping and safety.
- Must carry out any other duty delegated by the supervisor (Foreman/PSM/Engineer) during season and off crop.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENT**
- **Matric (with Maths and Science will be an added advantage).**
- **Completion of the Certification Course for a Pan Boiler with STC.**
- **4 years sugar manufacturing plant operations and control experience.**
- Minimum 4 years Pan boiling experience required.
- Knowledge of operating machinery.
- Knowledge of the Refinery process will be an advantage.
- Must be safety orientated.
- Work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
