Merchandise Planner Job Description

TFG Jewellery Division is seeking a highly skilled Merchandise Planner to join our team. As a key member of our buying team, you will play a crucial role in maximising sales, optimising inventory levels, and growing profit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Buying Team: Work closely with the buying team to develop and implement product strategies that drive sales growth and profitability.
  • Merchandise Performance Analysis: Analyse merchandise performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, and develop actionable recommendations to improve product offerings.
  • Product Strategy Development: Develop, communicate, and implement product strategies that align with business objectives and drive sales growth.
  • Location Strategy: Develop and implement location strategies that optimise inventory levels and drive sales growth.
  • Promotional Strategy: Develop and implement promotional strategies that align with marketing campaigns and drive sales growth.
  • Financial Management: Manage product finances, including product planning, allocations, and controlling OTB, reviewing weekly and monthly figures.
  • Trade Feedback: Provide weekly and monthly trade feedback with associated action plans to drive sales growth and profitability.
  • Forecasting: Manage monthly, seasonal, and financial year forecasts for product categories.
  • Range Size and Assortment Management: Manage range size and assortment to ensure optimal inventory levels and drive sales growth.
  • Replenishment Stock Management: Manage replenishment stock to ensure optimal inventory levels and drive sales growth.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external partners, including suppliers.
Requirements:
  • Matric: A matric certificate is required.
  • Relevant Qualification: A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification is required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of proven working experience as a Merchandise Planner is required.
  • Numeracy and Analytical Skills: A high degree of numeracy and analytical, detailed, and strategic approach to work is required.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy in MS Office, Excel (intermediate to advanced) is required.
  • ERP Systems: Strong aptitude for ERP systems (Planning, Allocations, Buy-Plans, etc.) is required.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen and merchant thinking is required.
  • Organisational and Interpersonal Skills: Good organisational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required.
  • Decision-Making Ability: Proven decision-making ability is required.

Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
