Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Specialist to join our team at HR Genie. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechatronics engineering, with experience in programming and configuring control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and set up process flowcharts and sequence of operation for required facilities
  • Establish the most effective control system configuration to achieve required specifications
  • Apply advanced control techniques to production processes
  • Program, test, and commission facilities within allocated project constraints
  • Assist with mechanical and electrical solutions where necessary
  • Provide detailed control system documentation upon project completion
  • Attend and positively contribute in relevant project-related meetings
  • Liaise confidently and constructively with customers from time to time during projects
  • Provide production support on projects where necessary
  • Travel locally and internationally to assist with the installation and commissioning of facilities on site
  • Integrate and interface with other site machines (Serial, Digital, Ethernet, Profi-bus, etc.)
  • Modify and adjust existing programs

Requirements

  • Formal tertiary education: Grade 12
  • N.Dip (Electrical Engineering); N.Dip (Mechatronics); B.Eng (Mechatronics) or similar
  • Languages: English (read, write, and speak) (required)
  • Afrikaans (read, write, and speak) (optional)
  • German (read, write, and speak) (optional)
  • Driver's license: Code 8- (or higher)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PLC logic and programming experience with Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc.
  • Experience with interfacing SCADA, motion control, robotic systems, vision systems, or measuring systems to PLC applications
  • Computer and PLC system configuration knowledge understanding
  • Able to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up
  • Sound understanding of facility commissioning requirements with 1-3 years of experience in a projects environment
  • Practical usage of MS software or similar
  • Confidently interface and communicate with other technical professionals
