We are seeking a highly skilled and service-oriented Sommelier to join our Food and Beverage Team at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg.

Job Summary:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive wine list in collaboration with the kitchen and Food and Beverage Team.
  • Provide expert recommendations on wine pairings and advise guests on wine selections based on their preferences and the menu.
  • Ensure that wines are served at the optimal temperature and presented in the correct glassware.
  • Manage the wine cellar, ensuring that it is fully stocked and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Train staff on wine knowledge and provide guidance on wine service.
  • Negotiate with wine vendors to secure the best possible prices.
  • Organize wine tastings and events to enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to all health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Legal rights to work in South Africa.
  • Proven experience as a Sommelier or equivalent role in a high-end hospitality setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of wine, including wine pairings, wine service, and wine management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
