Job Description:

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Sample Machinist to join our team at TFG Design Centre.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced professional to assemble and finish high-quality garments from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have proven work experience in garment manufacturing, excellent attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Completing sample garments according to quality standards and requirements.
  • Liaising with pattern makers regarding garment construction and any discrepancies or fabric issues.
  • Collecting trims required for sample garments.
  • Carrying out machining and finishing work as required by the Sample Room Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in garment manufacturing.
  • The ability to work accurately with a high attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • To be responsible, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • To be able to read and write.
  • To be able to understand (read) a pattern, sketch, and information.
  • To be able to sew all types of garments (e.g. pants, tops, skirt, dress, jackets) and fabrics (e.g. woven, knits).
  • To be able to operate all types of machines and know what they are used for (understand construction of garments).
  • To be able to solve problems by involving the relevant people.
  • To have knowledge about quality standards of garments and that it is production friendly.
  • To be punctual, driven, and have good communication skills.
  • To be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Estimated Salary: R 55,000 - R 65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Location: TFG Design Centre.
