Biodiversity Conservation Strategist

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to lead our Strategic Water Source Areas (SWSAs) programme.

This position involves providing technical leadership and fostering collaboration and continuity to secure SWSAs, as well as managing and supporting project development and implementation.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Significant experience working in ecological infrastructure and/or natural resource management and/or biodiversity conservation;
  • Strong technical leadership and policy advice skills;
  • Experience of biodiversity mainstreaming into local government;
  • Understanding of communities of practice and catchment scale;
  • Knowledge of national and global biodiversity conservation policies and frameworks;
  • Project management expertise;
  • Compliance and risk management knowledge;
  • Effective people management skills;
  • Diverse team management experience;
  • Partnership and stakeholder relationship management abilities;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure;
  • Financial and budget management skills;
  • Planning, organizing, and problem solving expertise;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • GIS, MS Office, and other software tool proficiency;
  • Understanding of spatial and other knowledge products related to SWSAs;
  • A valid driver's licence (minimum B) and willingness to travel;
  • SACNASP registration is advantageous.
