We are looking for a highly skilled Enterprise Systems Engineer to join our team at Datacentrix.



Job Description

The Enterprise Systems Engineer will be responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation, support, and performance tuning of central server architecture components and operating systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Server and Systems Management
  • Provide Infrastructure Support
  • Manage Backup and Recovery of Data for Business Continuity
  • Implement ICT Security


Server and Systems Management

  • Implement the installation and maintenance of all functional servers
  • Implement the performance measures and improvement on all functional servers
  • Implement the management of the company name server and registration of new domain name server (DNS) entries
  • Provide specifications on acquiring of new servers
  • Oversee and implement the management and maintenance of all email and collaboration systems
  • Implement the upgrade of all functional servers by analysing server loads and new functionality
  • Develop and disseminate procedure guidelines for management of various systems
  • Manage Library catalogue system
  • Manage DHCP accounts on the DHCP servers


Manage Backup and Recovery of Data for Business Continuity

  • Install, configure, and maintain backup software
  • Schedule of backup processes
  • Check and monitor backups of all relevant systems on client site
  • Manage tape cycles for backup system (including Library tape)
  • Check all backup logs
  • Conduct backup process (backup and verify)
  • Manage off-site backup storage arrangement
  • Analyse and report on backup logs
  • Maintain backup register on successful/failed backups and track tapes usage
  • Assist and provide leadership in the recovery of data
  • Conduct regular restore tests on identified systems
  • Manage tape replacement cycles
  • Maintain backup equipment (regular cleaning and replacement of cleaning media


Provide Infrastructure Support

  • Maintain VMWare Virtual Infrastructure
  • Manage Storage Area Network environment
  • Manage bandwidth
  • Manage the disk quota
  • Conduct configurations of FC SAN switches
  • Supporting Clients related e.g. office363, Mimecast
  • Implementing new solutions
  • Upgrades of systems


Implement ICT Security

  • Implement Patch management process
  • Implement group policy management
  • Research IT security trends to ensure that a high level of knowledge is maintained and advise the security administrator
  • Assist security administrator in performing his functions
  • Assign file access rights to users
  • Assign printer access rights to users
  • Assist staff with relevant network / service problems
  • Assist technicians with relevant network / service problems
  • Create users on the domain
