Credit Controller Job Description

At HR Genie, we are seeking a highly skilled Credit Controller to join our team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a key role in managing our company's cash flow and credit management.

As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring that our debtors' Masterfile is accurately updated, following up on outstanding payments, and maintaining a strong relationship with clients to ensure they adhere to their credit limits and payment terms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage debtor accounts, ensuring timely payments and resolving any disputes or queries
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to promote excellent customer service
  • Monitor and report on debtor activity, identifying trends and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with the CFO to discuss all debtors on your book and bring concerns to their attention
  • Process cash receipts daily and obtain approval from the CFO for all payment arrangements
  • Ensure that trade agreements are stored securely and easily accessible
  • Verify and load correct discounts and rebate percentages onto our systems
  • Resolve debtor claims and queries promptly and professionally
  • Conduct monthly debtors reconciliations and disallow discounts if clients do not pay on time
  • Send statements to customers timeously, adhering to company deadlines
  • Communicate with sales managers regarding client credit facilities and respond to customer requests
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, providing insights to inform business decisions
  • Ensure strict adherence to deadlines and provide updates on progress

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with main retail chain stores
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of accounting packages and principles
  • Time management and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain attention to detail
