Facilities Management Specialist

A well-established automotive plant based in Durban, South Africa is seeking a qualified and experienced Facilities Management Specialist to join their dynamic team at Profile Personnel.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Facilities Management Specialist to lead our properties-related projects, manage company-owned properties on behalf of the landlord, and explore green technologies related to utilities and utilities management. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and be responsible for managing facilities functions, planning and controlling expenditure within an annual budget, ensuring compliance with internal procurement and financial standards, and managing security functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the facilities function for the division
- Plan and control expenditure within an annual budget for repairs and maintenance, capital expenditure
- Ensure that facilities meet all required internal and customer standards
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement and financial standards
- Manage and control the security function for the division
Energy Efficiency Programmes:
The Facilities Management Specialist will develop and implement energy efficiency programmes for the division, plan and implement energy-saving projects, and remain up-to-date with current developments in the energy efficiency industry and the use of green technologies.
Engineering Services:
The successful candidate will provide facilities and service engineering for the division, perform engineering review services to production and maintenance, assist business units with maintenance engineering methodology, and ensure legal requirements and appointments are fulfilled within the organisation.
People Management:
- Ensure an enabling climate and culture
- Manage individual, team, and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectives
- Manage contract suppliers in line with budget
- Obtain approval for and recruit and select employees in the area of responsibility
- Plan, organise, and monitor work in own area of responsibility
- Compile and update Performance Contracts and Individual Development Plans and facilitate individual career path planning
- Determine the training needs of the Department
- Conduct Performance Reviews and manage sub-standard performance
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
- Evaluate and maintain discipline in the department (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
- Resolve grievances and disputes
Requirements:
- Matric or a school leaving certificate
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Additional qualifications: Building inspector/Property Management certificate
Salary Estimate:
R600,000 - R900,000 per annum, depending on experience
