Job Title: Cement Industry Process Optimizer

MECS Africa is seeking a highly skilled Cement Industry Process Optimizer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing the production process in a cement pyro-processing plant. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience working in the cement industry and a degree in Process or Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Control and analyze process data from the SCADA system going to the data management system.
• Present data analysis to communicate findings.
• Manage optimization projects throughout the entire plant and coordinate the involved staff to secure the technical and financial success of the project as well as the completion within the set time limits.
• Monitor the quality parameters within the process and propose adjustments to improve the production process and maintain product quality.
• Identify areas for potential process or operational improvements, or cost reduction, and work towards implementing these changes.
• Conduct stockpile management and balances for alternative fuels and raw materials fed to the system, as well cement stock balances.
• Assist in planning and supervision of refractory works considering continuous evaluation of currently used materials and techniques to ensure best practice.
• Conduct routine process health checks and monitoring and report any concerns, along with recommendations to address these concerns.
• Train the production engineer and graduate production engineer to conduct process health checks, data processing and interpretation, troubleshooting for process problems, and guide them on optimization projects.
• Assist with training production personnel in the field and the control room.
• Ensure constant compliance with all relevant laws and regulations e.g. with regards to human rights, Labour Act, Health & Safety Regulations, etc.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience working in the cement industry at a cement pyro-processing plant.
• Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Be willing to relocate to Namibia.
• Experience working with Siemens PCS7.
• Must have worked with PXP or an equivalent advanced process control software in cement pyro-processing.
• Experience with commissioning a kiln controller would be advantageous.
• Experience with Canary Data and Historian would be an advantage.
• Must have extensive experience in process optimization in a cement pyro-processing plant.
• Must have an understanding of refractories used in the cement industry.
• Excellent data analysis and digital fluency.
• Very strict approach to safety at work.
• Basic understanding of project finance.
• Project management skills.
• Good understanding of process control principles and systems.
• Disciplined and accurate work methods.
• Familiarity with integrated management systems for ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 compliances would be an advantage.
