Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright (Section 13 Red Seal) to join our team at Profile Personnel. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for conducting mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Process (Scheduled)
    • Receive and interpret maintenance schedules, plan maintenance and repair work, and generate job requisitions for scheduled maintenance tasks.
    • Inspect tools and determine spares and consumables requirements.
    • Transport tools, equipment, and spares to the work site.
  • Maintenance Process (Breakdown)
    • Attend to machine breakdowns of a mechanical/electrical nature for all equipment under engineering functional control.
    • Update responsible personnel on progress of repairs and escalate problems to the next level if necessary.
    • Capture all information related to the breakdown to aid in determining the root cause.
  • Mechanical Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including aligning machines and equipment, diagnosing and repairing faults, and commissioning and refurbishing machines/equipment.
    • Operate and monitor drilling machines, lathes, milling machines, surface grinding machines, and electrical discharge machines to produce simple components.
    • Perform basic and MIG/TIG welding of metals, grind tools and drill bits, and maintain mechanical equipment.
  • Electrical Maintenance
    • Design and construct single/three-phase circuits, design and install electrical wire ways, and construct, commission, and fault-trace low-voltage reticulation networks.
    • Install or replace and commission electrical equipment, including lighting systems, electrical cables and conductors, earth leakage units, metering units, low and medium voltage transformers, batteries, electrical wire ways, and direct current machines.
    • Wire and commission three-phase electrical circuits, inspect and clean electrical machines, enhanced safety apparatus, and electrical motors, and test and inspect three-phase industrial/commercial installations.
    • Inspect and maintain electrical equipment, including electrical distribution boards, panels, and enclosures, intrinsically safe apparatus, lighting systems, high mast lighting structures, batteries and battery rooms, low-voltage switchgear, unit protection devices on transformers, AC or DC drive units, electric power tools, three-phase AC machines and control gear, and AC motor control gear.
    • Replace electrical equipment, including electrical cables, faulty components in a distribution board, and three-phase electrical motors between 5.5 kW and 75 kW.
    • Fault-find and repair domestic appliances, single-phase alternating current systems, and three-phase voltage electrical circuits.
    • Disconnect and connect electric motors, handle and care for electrical earthing gear and related equipment, and joint low-voltage cables.
    • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers.
  • Fabrication
    • Mechanically cut, drill, punch, and assemble fabrication materials using powered machinery.
    • Cut materials using the oxy-fuel gas cutting process (manual cutting).
    • Join metals using the resistance welding process.
  • Instrumentation Maintenance
    • Construct basic electronic circuits.
    • Install instrument impulse lines.
  • Project Initiation
    • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition, and scope change control, and work as a valuable team member.
    • Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budgets for projects or sub-projects, and monitor and control actual costs against budget.
