About the RoleThe Head of Finance plays a pivotal role in managing the full financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and implementing robust financial controls. This role involves overseeing cost accounting activities and providing strategic financial insights to guide business decisions. You will work closely with senior management to support the company's financial objectives and lead a dedicated finance team.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Accounting Management: Oversee and manage the full financial accounting function, including preparation of financial statements, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Closing Processes: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Cost Accounting: Manage and oversee cost accounting processes, including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Manufacturing Cost Control: Collaborate with production and operations teams to monitor and control manufacturing costs.
- Cost Control Measures: Develop and implement cost control measures to improve profitability.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.
- Financial Performance Monitoring: Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying and addressing variances.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports.
- Financial Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement appropriate controls to mitigate them.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure the company's financial policies and procedures are compliant with relevant legislation.
- External Communications: Present financial information, reports, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- Internal Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Talent Development: Oversee and provide strategic direction for other departments (for example HR and IT).
- Chartered Accountant (SA): Registered Chartered Accountant (SA) is essential for this role.
- Senior Financial Experience: Experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the manufacturing industry, is required.
- Financial Accounting Experience: Experience in financial accounting is necessary.
- Cost Accounting Experience: Experience in cost accounting would be an advantage.
- Management Experience: Proven management experience managing teams is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems is required.
