Industrial Millwright Specialist

A reputable automotive organization is seeking qualified and skilled candidates for the role of Millwright. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on various machinery and equipment, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 certification with Mathematics and Science
  • Section 13 Red Seal Millwright certification
  • N4 Electro-Mechanical qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy industry
  • Proficiency in Siemens PLC systems

Key Responsibilities:

Scheduled Maintenance:

  • Review maintenance schedules, interpret instructions, and plan necessary maintenance and repair tasks
  • Assess tools and identify spare parts and consumables needed
  • Create job requisitions for scheduled maintenance activities, detailing repairs, required spares, quantities, and time estimates
  • Transport tools, equipment, and spare parts to the designated work area

Breakdown Maintenance:

  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns for all equipment under engineering control
  • Provide updates to the relevant personnel regarding repair progress
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher authority
  • Document all breakdown information to assist in root cause analysis

Mechanical Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks
  • Align machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on machinery during production
  • Commission and refurbish equipment
  • Operate and monitor various machines to produce components
  • Perform basic and MIG/TIG welding tasks
  • Maintain mechanical systems including drives, seals, bearings, and pumps

Electrical Maintenance:

  • Design and implement single and three-phase circuits
  • Install and replace electrical equipment
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance on electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults

Fabrication:

  • Utilize powered machinery for cutting, drilling, and assembling materials
  • Join metals using welding techniques

Instrumentation Maintenance:

  • Construct basic electronic circuits and install impulse lines

Project Contribution:

  • Assist in project initiation and scope definition
  • Participate in budgeting and cost monitoring for projects
