Job Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Support Specialist to join our team at West Coast Personnel. As a key member of our factory operations team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical support to ensure minimal equipment downtime.


About the Role


This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to take their career to the next level. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with supervisors and production teams to schedule maintenance routines and ensure equipment availability.


Key Responsibilities



  • Perform daily planned and preventative maintenance routines to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and diagnose potential equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with supervisors/production to schedule maintenance tasks and ensure parts availability.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and plan corrective actions to prevent future issues.
  • Perform repairs swiftly to restore equipment to optimal condition and report on downtime and actions taken.
  • Verify proper equipment operation post-repair and obtain approval from manufacturing.
  • Be available to assist with production requests at all times and help resolve process-related production issues.
  • Assist with operator training as needed and communicate production run changes and potential problems with production.
  • Provide written reports on maintenance activities to supervisors and conduct "first off" inspections on process changes.
  • Evaluate equipment performance through statistical process charts and correct issues, and report on out-of-control conditions and ensure daily housekeeping.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably as a Maintenance Fitter or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and/or Qualified Artisan (N5) with Trade Test certification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to work shifts when required.
  • Strong understanding of quality requirements in a manufacturing environment, knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment, and self-starter with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Assertive, resilient, and customer-focused, flexible and disciplined, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Information


The estimated salary for this position is R25 000 to R27 000 CTC per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
