About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Support Engineer to join our team at Amazon Development Centre (South Africa) (Proprietary) Limited. As a Cloud Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our customers who are using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to customers who are using AWS cloud computing technologies, including Amazon Kinesis, Managed Streaming for Kafka, Amazon OpenSearch, and Cloudsearch.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to cloud computing, data analytics, and streaming technologies.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of AWS cloud computing services, including their features, benefits, and limitations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product development, to ensure that customer needs are met and that AWS services are optimized for customer success.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs to help customers get the most out of AWS cloud computing services.
Requirements
  • Experience with streaming technologies, such as Kafka, Kinesis, and Rabbit MQ.
  • Knowledge of log analysis and general troubleshooting concepts, including tuning and optimization, search and indexing operations, and mapping and monitoring.
  • Experience with business analytics applications, support, and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Experience with system administration and troubleshooting, including Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and/or Microsoft Windows Server and associated technologies (Active Directory).
  • Experience with networking and troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, and cURL.
  • Experience with Apache Flink and Apache Spark.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a technical position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a customer support environment.
  • Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions to technical issues.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts.
  • Experience scripting or developing in at least one of the following languages: Python, R, Ruby, GO, Java,.NET (C#), JavaScript.
  • Good understanding of distributed systems.
  • Exposure to database fundamentals and general troubleshooting, including tuning and optimization, deadlocks, keys, and normalization in any relational database engines (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQLServer).
