Fleet Manager Job Overview

The primary objective of this role is to effectively manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot/plant, ensuring the productivity of drivers and their vehicles, along with the overall maintenance of vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Budget Control: Ensure all invoices and POs are signed off and submitted to Finance. Follow up on outstanding money, insurance claims, traffic fines, vehicle maintenance, and management of driver hours.
  2. Client Service: Deliver exceptional service within clients' SLA, cultivate working relationships with stakeholders, and daily client interactions on the frontline.
  3. Operational Execution: Oversee and manage own fleet of vehicles, weekly checks, services, wash bay, breakdowns (where applicable), licensing of vehicles, trip management, and route planning.
  4. Site Management: Manage the wash bay, workshop, and diesel.
  5. Staff Management: Manage employee development, performance, skills development, team motivation, address employee issues or grievances, and manage drivers' leave and overtime.

Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Fleet Manager position within the logistics industry. Ability to work well under pressure, diligent, time-competent, customer service focused, honest, reliable, and trustworthy.

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to communicate fluently in English and Afrikaans.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and perform duties on weekends.
