Adjunct Faculty in Mechanical Engineering

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is seeking part-time adjunct faculty members to teach day and/or evening classes for the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. This is a part-time position created to provide an available applicant pool for the department. Positions will be filled on an as needed basis, with start dates varying by course and semester.

The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with significant practical experience in the relevant area. Additionally, they should have successful undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. The ability to teach in other areas is also valued.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Teaching from established curriculum but with the addition of personal expertise and experience.
  • Providing students with timely feedback.
  • Grading.

Prior experience teaching college-level courses is required. Applicants are expected to review the WPI course catalog and identify engineering courses they may be qualified to teach. Experience with online teaching and the Canvas learning management system is preferred but not required. A PhD in a related discipline is preferred; a master's degree in a related discipline is required.
