About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Financial Leader to join our team as Chief Financial Officer: Reinsurance Business. This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for the full financial function within the Santam Re business, including financial management and reporting, financial data management, risk and regulatory reporting, and the risk and governance of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management and Reporting
    • Develop and implement financial management processes and systems to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage the financial reporting process, including variance analysis and reporting of revenue and expenses.
  • Forecasting, Budgeting, and Scenario Planning
    • Develop and implement effective forecasting and budgeting processes to support business planning and decision-making.
    • Support the business with financial planning, scenario planning, and strategic business case development.
  • Statutory and Regulatory Reporting
    • Implement and manage accurate statutory (IFRS) and regulatory reporting processes.
    • Manage the review and audit engagements conducted by external auditors.
  • Other Business Responsibilities
    • Lead and manage a diverse team of finance professionals.
    • Drive employee engagement, succession, and development.
    • Provide trusted counsel to the CEO and Executive Team.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior financial role.
  • Experience in setting up financial reporting processes.
  • Experience in data management and analytics is strongly recommended.
  • Experience in reinsurance technical accounting and Enterprise Risk management reporting would be advantageous.
  • Insurance industry experience is strongly recommended.
