We are seeking an experienced Controller and Business Manager to lead our financial operations at LIFE CHATSMED GARDEN HOSPITAL. The successful candidate will have strong financial management skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data, manage budgets, and implement effective financial controls.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff according to Life people policies and practices. They will also be responsible for reviewing monthly recon files, managing general ledger close of adjustments to zero, and preparing variance to budget as compared to prior year analysis.

Critical Outputs
  1. Effective people management
    Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of Life values, operating model, and strategy. Actively sponsor Life initiatives and projects as it relates to hospital operations.
  2. Accurate financial reporting & analysis
    Manage people and processes to adhere to reporting deadlines. Report on hospital performance, identify problem areas, and take remedial action with staff and Enabling functions as required.
  3. Effective budgeting
    Participate in hospital strategic planning to identify Capex projects, develop financial models for proposed Capex plans with local management and Enabling functions, and assist hospital managers in developing motivations for these projects.
  4. Effective management of internal controls
    Prepare annual review checklists and manage the internal control environment within the hospital.
  5. Effective patient services management
    Ensure all credit management targets are met. Manage and minimize risk and achieve LHC targets regarding rejections, bad debts, case management write-offs, and reimbursement codes.
  6. Effective governance and risk management
    Manage compliance to executive constraints per corporate governance, report deviations, and take action where necessary.
  7. Effective quality management and customer relations
    Achieve and improve quality metrics, continuously monitor and measure processes, maintain data integrity, and comply with LHC protocols.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting with completed Articles.
  2. CA(SA) advantageous.
  3. Relevant experience, preferably commercial management in a corporate services environment.
  4. Ability to learn industry specifics, such as related healthcare terminology.
  5. Computer proficiency.
