Job Description

At Carlysle Human Capital, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring high-quality frozen poultry and fish products from around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Expertise: The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of frozen poultry and fish, quality standards, and local and international suppliers. They will be responsible for purchasing and sourcing products, as well as negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Export Knowledge: The candidate will have experience in advising and executing export processes and regulations related to the sector.
  • Network and Relationships: They will leverage their wide network within the industry to establish successful partnerships with suppliers and distributors. They will also maintain good working relationships between Carlysle Human Capital and its suppliers.
  • Negotiation: The candidate will negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement, deal with claims, and negotiate the best settlement for our clients.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with stakeholders across the supply chain. The candidate will compile and conduct reporting, presentations, and implement systems.
  • Market Research: The candidate will stay abreast of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory requirements in the sector. They will also develop the company's product range and help build and develop new brands for new markets.
  • Supply Chain Management: They will oversee the logistics of procurement, ensure timely delivery of goods, and maintain optimal inventory levels.
Requirements:
  • Expertise in Frozen Poultry and Fish Procurement: 5 years of experience in international frozen commodities buying or trading. The candidate must demonstrate extensive knowledge of frozen poultry and fish, quality standards, local South African, and international suppliers.
  • Specialized Knowledge - Export: 2-3 years of experience in ocean and air exports to markets outside of Africa.
  • A Wide Network: The candidate must have a wide network within the poultry and fish industry, including suppliers, distributors, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills are essential for securing favorable terms with suppliers and optimizing procurement costs.
  • Computer Literate: The candidate must be computer literate in using online portals and Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications:
  • Matric Certificate: A Matric Certificate is required.
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification: A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
Personality Fit:
  • Strong Negotiation Skills: The candidate must have strong negotiation skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to Work Independently: The candidate must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
  • Ambitious and Positive: The ideal candidate will be ambitious, positive, and energetic, with a solution-driven, resourceful, proactive, and assertive approach.
  • Ability to Handle Pressure: They must be able to handle high-pressure situations and take calculated decisions.
