Job Description

The Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of production processes, achieving set targets, and upholding exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning
    • Schedule and oversee production activities to ensure timely completion and optimal resource allocation.
    • Develop and implement effective changeover strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Production Management
    • Maintain high manufacturing efficiencies through strategic planning, employee engagement, and process optimization.
    • Ensure adherence to start-up procedures, proper machinery operation, and balanced production line staffing.
    • Monitor and evaluate daily production performance, addressing issues promptly to meet targets.
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve manufacturing-related problems.
    • Implement and maintain ancillary process equipment, setting up production conditions to produce high-quality finished products.
  • Raw Materials Management
    • Strategically monitor raw material levels to guarantee sufficient inventory for production needs.
    • Supervise monthly stock takes, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
    • Conduct integrity checks on stock counts to prevent discrepancies.
  • Material Handling
    • Carefully handle and manage materials throughout the production process.
    • Identify and address waste, reporting any material concerns.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Anticipate and troubleshoot machine malfunctions to minimize downtime.
    • Regularly inspect maintenance or manufacturing equipment, tooling, and services.
    • Inform responsible personnel of equipment breakdowns and complete relevant job cards, if applicable.
    • Perform minor machine repairs to reduce downtime and optimize production.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Continuously identify opportunities for process enhancements.
    • Apply continuous improvement principles, such as kaizen.
  • People Management
    • Coach and counsel employees to enhance performance levels.
    • Maintain discipline within the department, addressing absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, and other issues.
    • Resolve grievances and disputes effectively.
    • Plan and provide on-the-job training and multi-skilling for production teams, motivating them to adopt correct work practices.
    • Ensure all subordinates attend required training courses, particularly those related to quality and safety.
    • Manage payroll SACO hours submissions and exceptions in a timely manner.
    • Process SACO clockings and exceptions promptly for payroll processing.
    • Report any issues with the SACO time and attendance system to the payroll department immediately.
    • Manage production overtime schedules to comply with MIBCO Main Agreement requirements.
    • Notify the HR Department of any overtime exemptions exceeding 10 hours per week.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
    • Guarantee safe working conditions and adherence to safe working practices across all departmental areas.
    • Report any unsafe equipment, working conditions, or practices to the Production Manager.
    • Maintain clean and tidy machines and production areas according to 5S good housekeeping principles.
    • Ensure all safe working procedures are followed by subordinates, including the use of protective gear and safety devices.
