Job Title: Associate - Client Accountant

The Recruitment Council is seeking a highly skilled Associate Client Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our financial services team, you will be responsible for maintaining the accounting records of offshore and onshore trusts and companies, producing timely and accurate financial statements, and collaborating with team members in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including trial balances and financial statements.
  • Identify and execute payment requirements for clients, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Systematically file and gather client agreements with third parties, identifying actions required such as issuing invoices.
  • Assist the Investment Accounting team in reconciling investment and bank accounts, preparing investment reporting, and other financial analysis within strict deadlines.
  • Provide external service providers with relevant information to prepare financial reports, tax, and other statutory returns for clients within strict deadlines.
  • Liaise with the Trust Administrator and Middle Office Team to ensure adequate supporting documents are in place for various updates in clients.
  • Provide relevant reports for client reporting purposes, including client meeting preparation.
  • Provide reporting for local and international tax purposes.
Requirements:
  • BCom Accounting graduate with SAIPA or SAICA articles completed.
  • Practical experience in the financial services environment, with exposure to local and international trust structures.
  • Experience in communicating with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experience in a deadline-driven environment.
Skills:
  • Accounting knowledge and competence, including IFRS for SMEs, STEP accounting, and a basic understanding of trusts and investments.
  • Technical experience in Caseware, Xero, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Business Central and Laserfische beneficial.
