Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Financial Strategist to join our finance team at Proactive Recruitment. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in shaping the company's financial future.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with experience in a Finance Controller or similar role. You will be responsible for developing and improving the financial capabilities of the company, providing support and cover for the Lettings Accounts department, and producing weekly and monthly management information.

You will also be expected to produce monthly management accounts, contribute to the monthly and quarterly Board packs, process year-end accounting procedures, and independently run sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, and expenses.

Your duties will also include ensuring all VAT, Tax, PAYE, and Pension filings and payments are made accurately and on time, running the annual processes such as P60, P11D, financial audit, etc., and posting all entries onto the finance system and running regular Bank reconciliations.

In addition, you will be responsible for cash flow management, analysis, and forecasting on a weekly basis, acting as a point of contact for internal colleagues and external stakeholders for all Finance queries, proactively flagging issues or concerns to management, and managing external relationships including accountants, banks, legal, regulatory bodies.

You will also be required to manage suppliers, negotiate payment terms, and ensure payments are made on time, produce all company reporting, and work closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team, providing commercial insight, analysis, timely MI, and ad hoc analysis.

Special Projects

You will have the opportunity to support the CEO and SMT, including performance analysis, board pack collation and presentation, review of incentive plans, business cases on major investment decisions, and any other matters that arise.

You will also be responsible for critically reviewing all current reporting needs in the business, designing solutions to current challenges, and unlocking untapped potential.

Furthermore, you will be tasked with upgrading systems and processes across the finance department.

Requirements
  • Qualified accountant with previous experience within a Finance Controller or similar role.
  • Familiar with UK accounting, financial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent on accounting software (Zero).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness and able to contribute to the SMT.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Previous experience of staff management is preferable.
  • Experience of working as part of a senior management team is preferable.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
