This role requires computer literacy in Word, Excel, and Outlook, knowledge of Health and Safety, and supervisory skills.

The Equipment Maintenance and Control Officer will facilitate maintenance and upkeep of laboratory and other equipment, maintain control over the activities, and organize workshop personnel to ensure productivity and quality of maintenance.

Liaising with project managers, preparing cost proposals and orders for hiring equipment, and facilitating establishments and de-establishments of equipment on projects are also key responsibilities of this role.

In charge of cost control, the Equipment Maintenance and Control Officer will oversee a fleet of vehicles, including usage control, maintenance, and acquisitions.

Reviewing and sourcing resources as necessary, following SGS internal procedures, channeling instructions to applicable reporting staff, and ensuring that purchased equipment meets specifications before being integrated into the system are also critical tasks.

The Support Services Manager will work closely with the Equipment Maintenance and Control Officer to implement and manage the quality system.

This role requires the ability to carry out corrective actions and training as necessary for reporting staff, arrange, monitor, and repair maintenance of equipment, and perform repairs and maintenance on sites.

Key qualifications include Grade 12, mechanical, electrical, or similar electronic qualification or skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning, and proficiency in English and Afrikaans (read, write, speak).
