Job Title: Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer at Dimension Data, you will play a crucial role in designing and building the data architecture of our products. Your technical expertise will help us develop new products by taking an idea from concept to reality. You will work on projects across multiple teams to achieve company goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze business requirements to design and implement data solutions.
  2. Design and build databases, reports, and tools for analytical needs.
  3. Develop reports with analysis results and ensure data integrity.
  4. Modify database structures as necessary, based on information provided by application developers.
  5. Enroll users, maintain system security, and control user access to the database.
  6. Monitor and optimize database performance, maintain archived data, and contact the database vendor for technical support.
  7. Perform database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning to ensure optimal configuration and performance.
  8. Optimize database access and allocate/re-allocate database resources for optimum configuration, database performance, and cost.
  9. Manage schema changes and implementations, implement advanced database security features, and audit user activity to ensure data integrity and performance.
  10. Establish standards, policies, and procedures for data management, define and implement alerts on data, and develop reports and ETL packages in line with Business Intelligence best practices and procedures.
  11. Develop data warehousing solutions to support business intelligence and analytics.
Qualifications:
  1. Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical certification in an IT field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with expertise in PowerBI, MS SQL, SSIS, Azure ADF, and good written and verbal communication skills.
