Job Title: Data Engineer

At Dimension Data, we're seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and building the data architecture of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business requirements to design and implement data solutions
  • Develop and maintain databases, reports, and tools for analytical needs
  • Build reports with analysis results to inform business decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals and objectives

Requirements:

  1. Modify database structure as necessary based on application developer input
  2. Enroll users and maintain system security
  3. Control and monitor user access to the database
  4. Monitor and optimize database performance
  5. Maintain archived data
  6. Contact database vendor for technical support
  7. Perform database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
  8. Optimize database access and allocate/re-allocate database resources for optimal configuration, performance, and cost
  9. Manage schema changes and implementations
  10. Implement advanced database security features
  11. Audit user activity to ensure data integrity and performance
  12. Establish standards, policies, and procedures for data management
  13. Define and implement alerts on data
  14. Develop reports and ETL packages in line with Business Intelligence best practices and procedures
  15. Data warehousing

Qualifications:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical certification
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience as a Data Engineer working with PowerBI, MS SQL, SSIS, Azure ADF, and other relevant technologies
  3. Good written and verbal communication skills
