Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and maintaining product composition, ensuring compliance with product labelling and specification regulations (KPI monitoring).
  • Driving New Product Development (NPD) projects in accordance with established protocols:
  • Conducting factory trials and feasibility studies;
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers, and government bodies as required;
  • Drafting specifications;
  • Sensory evaluations;
  • Finalizing product approvals;
  • Carrying out factory trials to enhance product and process profitability;
  • Interpreting customer needs and conducting product testing at their premises.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Matric qualification and a BSc in Food Science or a B.Tech in Food Technology degree;
  • A strong background in food labeling legislation;
  • 3-5 years' experience in the meat industry, with a food service background being advantageous;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate initiative;
  • Maintain 20 key performance indicators.
