Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular Hazard Analyses across various departments in KZN, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Develop and implement risk awareness programs to educate employees on potential hazards and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractor H&S requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the process of updating legal appointments as required, reflecting changes in leadership or structure.
  • Organize monthly SHE Awareness talks to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Monitor and log all IODs requiring medical treatment, communicating with relevant authorities where necessary.
  • Track and analyze IOD investigations, following up on actions arising from these investigations.
  • Coordinate annual refresher training for Forklift Drivers, Stackers, First Aiders, and update certificates and licenses accordingly.
  • Conduct thorough H&S audits across all departments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee New Machine Risk Assessment turnaround times, ensuring timely completion.
  • Arrange annual and return-to-work medicals for high-risk employees identified through the HIRA process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum N3 qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Qualification in SHE management, demonstrating expertise in health and safety principles.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer, showcasing technical knowledge and skills.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills, with the ability to present data effectively.
