Job Title: Facility Manager Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our 24-month Facility Manager Internship program at Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd - E35. This comprehensive training program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to become a successful Data Centre DCEO Facility Manager within an Amazon Data Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facility Operations Management: Responsible for the on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring adherence to established practices and procedures.
  • Project Management: Conduct Project Management for one site, contribute to the development of project plans for the business group, and effectively set priorities to meet goals on budget and on time.
  • Asset and Inventory Management: Responsible for asset and inventory management activities within the data center facilities.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Team Development and Recruitment: Participate in recruiting efforts, continually raise the bar, and actively in the training and development of other team members.
  • Professional Development: Draw from a deep group or department-level understanding to make business decisions, use business knowledge to set priorities and develop project plans, and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service: Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An engineering degree or equivalent in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
  • Relevant engineering experience managing operations or services.
  • High degree of organization and detail-orientation & excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record of success in delivering projects.
  • Ability to consistently deliver results despite competing priorities and distractions.
  • At least 2 years of experience building strong, successful technical teams in a similar culture.
  • Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product.
