The Royal Portfolio seeks a highly skilled and experienced Luxury Front of House Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our prestigious hotel's FOH department.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of service are maintained, and that every guest experience is exceptional. Your primary objective will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the FOH, including guest interaction, hosting, and satisfaction.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively throughout the hotel, ensuring all departments are aware of guests' needs, changes, and requirements.
  • Host guests during their stay, providing exceptional hospitality and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Recommend food and wine pairings to enhance the dining experience.
  • Develop and share wine knowledge with your team through regular training sessions.
  • Ensure wines are stored, presented, and served to the required standards.
  • Set up the hotel and restaurant according to established protocols on a daily basis.
  • Be present and assist during service, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guests, anticipating and catering to their needs.
  • Oversee the general running of FOH service areas and support service staff in delivering exceptional service.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety protocols throughout the hotel.
  • Assist with check-in and departure processes, ensuring smooth transitions for guests.
  • Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and report incidents accordingly.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with company standards.

Requirements, Qualifications & Expectations:

  • Tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a luxury 5-star establishment.
  • 2 years' experience in Hotel or Restaurant Management.
  • Prior experience in Food & Beverage is advantageous.
  • Wine and Cocktail certificates can be beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of the local area, including Hermanus and the Overberg region, as well as other properties, venues, and activities.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Micros (POS), Opera (PMS), and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to think critically.
  • A positive attitude and strong conflict resolution skills.
  • A high level of guest experience and a team-oriented approach.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of luxury hospitality and be able to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team. South African citizenship is advantageous, but not mandatory. A valid work permit is essential if you do not hold a South African ID document. Please note that all staff members undergo a pre-employment polygraph test as a condition of employment.

We offer a competitive salary range of R650,000 - R850,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, to attract and retain top talent in this field.
