Job Title: Blockman/Meat Technician

At Calandria Labour Consultants, we are seeking a highly skilled Meat Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of meats and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cutting, grinding, and preparing meats for sale in a clean and efficient manner.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Ensuring accurate and attractive displays and signage.
  • Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying products in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducting regular quality inspections on meats and other products.
  • Negotiating and confirming orders with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Adhering to strict food safety and sanitation controls at all times.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, including greeting and speaking to customers, answering questions, and accepting orders.
  • Coordinating deliveries or order pickups in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Providing training and certification for new staff members and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assisting in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Meat cutting experience and knowledge of meat preparation techniques and cuts.
  • Strong communication, task management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Lift heavy items and work in cold environments.
  • Training and certification from the SA Butchery School.
