A General Dentist Practitioner at Stethoscope SA is a healthcare professional responsible for diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral health conditions and diseases.
This role requires excellent clinical skills, patient care, and adherence to ethical and professional standards as outlined by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive oral examinations, including dental charting and radiographic imaging (X-rays).
- Diagnose dental conditions such as tooth decay, gum disease, infections, malocclusions, and oral cancers.
- Develop and explain treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs.
- Provide preventive dental care, including educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and performing professional cleanings (prophylaxis), scaling, and fluoride applications.
- Restore teeth affected by decay, trauma, or disease using fillings, crowns, bridges, and veneers.
- Perform endodontic procedures such as root canal treatments.
- Extract teeth when necessary and provide follow-up care.
- Manage postoperative care and potential complications.
