Job Description

The Principal Librarian: Humanities, Education and Law is a senior management role that reports to the Senior Manager: Academic Support Services. This position is responsible for leading the development and delivery of high-level subject information services to support teaching, learning, and research in the humanities, education, and law faculties.

About the Role

This is a key role within the university's library services, requiring a highly skilled and experienced librarian to lead a team of faculty liaison librarians and provide expert guidance on the selection, management, and evaluation of library collections and resources. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the academic environment, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and direction to the faculty liaison librarian team
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality and relevance of library services and collections
- Collaborate with faculty members to design and deliver instruction programs and user services
- Manage and evaluate library collections and resources to meet the needs of the faculty and students
- Stay up-to-date with trends and developments in library and information services and apply this knowledge to improve library services and collections

Required Skills and Qualifications

- An honors degree in library and information science or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an academic library
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
