Job Title: UAV Mechanical Instructor

At Milkor Integrated Systems, we are seeking a highly skilled UAV Mechanical Instructor to join our team. As a UAV Mechanical Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training modules on UAV mechanical systems, including propulsion, airframes, avionics, and payloads.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Deliver Training Modules: Create and deliver training modules that cover UAV mechanical systems, including propulsion, airframes, avionics, and payloads.
  • Conduct Hands-on Training Sessions: Conduct hands-on training sessions to teach personnel UAV assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
  • Develop Training Materials: Create and develop training materials, manuals, and presentations to support effective learning and skill acquisition.
Technician Duties:
  • Execute Diagnostics and Maintenance: Execute diagnostics, maintenance, and repair tasks on UAV mechanical components and systems.
  • Perform Inspections and Assessments: Perform inspections and assessments to ensure UAVs meet operational standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Collaborate with engineering teams to provide insights on UAV performance and reliability, contributing to ongoing improvements.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain Records: Maintain precise records of training activities, participant progress, and certification outcomes.
  • Prepare Technical Reports: Prepare detailed technical reports on UAV maintenance, repairs, and operational issues for review and analysis.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow Safety Protocols: Follow safety protocols and guidelines during both training sessions and maintenance tasks.
  • Stay Informed: Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance in UAV mechanical operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • UAV Experience: 5-10 years working with UAVs or similar aerospace systems.
  • Strong Understanding: Strong understanding of UAV mechanical systems, including propulsion, airframes, and avionics.
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience in technical training roles preferred.
  • Certification: Certification in UAV operations and maintenance is highly advantageous; Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CILT) preferred.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally, flexibility to adapt to evolving technology, understanding of South African aviation regulations and compliance standards.
  • Own Transport: Own transport required.
  • ERP Systems and Logistics Software: Experience with ERP systems and logistics software; knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, CAA Part 145).
  • Sound Knowledge: Sound knowledge of UAV systems, components, and logistics challenges specific to the industry.
