Job Summary:

We are currently hiring an Accounting Clerk to join our team at the Western Cape Government. The successful candidate will be responsible for various financial tasks, including rendering financial accounting transactions, receiving invoices, and processing payments.

About the Role:

The Accounting Clerk will work closely with our finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial records. Key responsibilities include rendering financial accounting transactions, receiving invoices, checking invoices for correctness and approval, processing invoices, filing of all documents, performing bookkeeping support services, capturing all financial transactions, clearing ledger accounts, compiling journals, providing payment office clerical support services, and rendering support with reporting responsibilities.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification) with Accounting or Mathematics as passed subjects. Experience in a financial accounting and/or management accounting working environment is highly recommended.

Skills Required:

The successful candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven computer literacy, planning and organizing skills, interpersonal relations, flexibility, teamwork, accuracy, aptitude of figures, ability to perform routine tasks, and ability to operate office equipment.
