Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator to join our team. As an LMS Administrator, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining and overseeing the company's learning management system application and environment.
The primary responsibility of this role includes optimising the LMS application performance, documenting operation and support processes and procedures related to the LMS application and environment, investigating and resolving LMS application and server environment errors and communicating with the business community.
You will collaborate with IT, learning colleges and business to adhere to and maintain policies, processes and procedures related to maintenance, update, upgrade, integration and development of the LMS application and environment.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Matric qualification
- Moodle Educator Certification, Moodle Partner Certification
- Experience with other LMS platforms
- An understanding of e-learning standards (e.g., SCORM, xAPI)
- Knowledge of cloud-based Moodle hosting solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- At least 3 years of experience with administration, development and customisation of a LMS in a business or educational environment
- Demonstrated experience with different Moodle hosting solutions and knowledge of relevant security requirements
- Demonstrated experience with data management and query building
As an LMS Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
- Configuring, administering, maintaining, updating and documenting the Moodle LMS environment
- Supervising the security, performance and fault tolerance of the Moodle LMS environment
- Partnering with business areas utilising Moodle/LMS
- Consulting with instructional designers, business and other users of the LMS environment to support the integration and development of features and customisations for the LMS application
- Overseeing relationships with related vendors and host providers, enforcing SLA and support expectations
- Responding to inquiries and requests from users for Moodle-related assistance as escalated through the support process
- Developing an all-encompassing policy on Moodle, including access rights, and identifying roles on Moodle
- Assigning, granting and approving roles and responsibilities of users
- Integrating educational technologies to improve teaching and learning
- Documenting the Moodle LMS environment and plug-ins
- Sites administration: setting up and changing key features of the learner management platform, including the site's front page, mobile app, messaging, notifications, location, language
- Arranging for plugins and upgrades: installing plugins and upgrading the Moodle site as directed by IT
- Providing ongoing support across the business
- Responding to user inquiries and requests for assistance
- Creating and assisting programme heads to generate management reports across projects
- Providing best practice expertise to content owners, developers of programmes to ensure continuous improvement of learning material and how users access content
- Developing roles and duties and presenting training workshops for content owners to use Moodle
- Collaborating with each functional owner to develop and import course content, update content, build engaging pre and post assessments for content and create learner dashboards to track progress and leaders
- Designing online training modules where required
- Adding and managing badges, creating competency frameworks, and learning plan templates
- Assisting, developing and implementing IT training initiatives
