Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Establish parts required for service or repairs to be performed and ensure that correct parts are ordered in a timely manner.
- Report to the foreman promptly on any additional work required, ensuring seamless communication and efficient workflow.
- Obtain authorization prior to carrying out additional work, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with the foreman to obtain technical information on problem jobs, utilizing this knowledge to resolve issues effectively.
- Adhere strictly to technical specifications laid down by the OEM, guaranteeing high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
- Perform duties according to manufacturers' standards, upholding the highest level of professionalism and expertise.
- Adhere to laid-down Group workshop policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and organized working environment.
- Document all work performed on the back of the job card, including the cause and correction, for accurate record-keeping and future reference.
- Ensure that all old parts are placed in a plastic bag in the boot of the car, except in cases where warranty work requires tagging and return to the control tower.
- Accurately book all oils and consumables used on the job card, facilitating effective inventory management and cost control.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle, using seat and fender covers as needed, to present a professional image.
- Ensure that the work area is kept safe, clean, and organized, promoting a positive and productive working environment.
- Record time accurately and efficiently on the clocking-on time sheet, following established protocols and procedures.
- Report any faulty or broken equipment to the foreman, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
- Handle special tools and equipment with care, respecting their value and importance in the workplace.
- Maintain a complete set of personal hand tools, as per the M.I.F. list, and keep them in good working condition, demonstrating a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
- Take responsibility for apprentices and learners, providing guidance and support to ensure their success and development within the team.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and respectful relationship with workshop staff.
- Respect customers' property, refraining from removing private items from vehicles.
- Store removed components, parts, accessories, and assemblies safely and securely, recording them for easy recognition and reassembly.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Previous experience as an automotive technician, preferably with VW, Honda, Mazda, Haval, Chery, Toyota, or Suzuki.
- A Motor Mechanic Trade Test Certificate, Red Seal.
- Proficiency in PC software applications.
- A valid driver's license.
- A clear criminal record.
- A stable work history, demonstrating reliability and consistency.
- The ability to work well under pressure and be target-driven, with a strong focus on results.
