Job Overview:

A prestigious animal hospital in the Boland region is seeking a seasoned and experienced Veterinary Operations Director to oversee the daily operations of its 24-hour facility. This critical role involves ensuring the seamless and efficient functioning of the hospital, delivering exceptional care to patients and outstanding service to their owners.

Salary Range:

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately R800,000 - R1,200,000, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and develop a skilled team of veterinary professionals and support staff.
  • Develop and implement effective scheduling systems to ensure adequate coverage for the 24-hour operation.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
  • Address and resolve any staff conflicts or issues promptly and professionally.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the hospital, ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations and standards.
  • Develop and manage rosters for hospital personnel to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
  • Implement and maintain high-quality hospital policies and procedures to ensure excellent patient care and service.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and cleanliness of hospital facilities.
  • Monitor billing processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Client Relations:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Manage client feedback and implement improvements to enhance client satisfaction.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure the highest standards of veterinary care and patient safety are maintained at all times.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs and protocols.
  • Stay current with industry developments and advancements in veterinary medicine and hospital management.

Emergency and Crisis Management:

  • Develop and implement emergency protocols for handling urgent and critical cases.
  • Ensure staff is trained and prepared for emergency situations, maintaining a calm and efficient response.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Veterinary Technology, or a related field. Experience in Veterinary Practice Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role within a veterinary or healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in AVIMARK and other relevant technology.
  • Knowledge of veterinary regulations and standards of care.
  • Compassion for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional care.
