Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at MECS in the Western Cape. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing cost reporting and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  1. Prepare monthly cost reports and coordinate cost review meetings with cost centre owners.
  2. Analyze monthly variances between actual and budgeted operating expenses.
  3. Develop and present divisional operating expense financial reports and variance explanations to the Refinery Leadership Team at monthly governance meetings.
  4. Provide financial guidance to refinery business units through accounting policy interpretation and application, tax implications of proposed actions, and capex vs. operating expenses decisions.
  5. Participate in special projects focused on continuous improvement in areas such as cost (SAP, ARIBA, cost reporting).
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Fully qualified CA(SA) or CIMA qualification is non-negotiable.
  2. A minimum of 2-5 years post-qualification experience, particularly in cost analysis and reporting, is highly preferable.
  3. Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of personnel across the organization.
  5. SAP experience and knowledge are desirable but not essential.
