About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Procurement Expert to join our team at Express Employment Professionals (Witbank). The successful candidate will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives and managing supplier relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced mining environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for non-stock surface materials, ensuring cost-effective and timely acquisition of critical materials.
  • Develop and maintain procurement strategies aligned with plant operational requirements, optimizing procurement processes to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage procurement budgets, ensuring effective supplier performance and risk assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Required: Diploma (NQF 6) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management, with 5-10 years of experience in compiling and administering complex, high-value tenders in mining & processing plant environments.
  • Advantageous: Advanced Diploma or Degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management, with 3-5 years of strategic sourcing experience (local, international, and low-cost countries).
Skills and Technical Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement strategies, including tender management, supplier relationship management, and cost optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems, with analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and procurement software.
Working Conditions
  • Office-based with frequent plant site visits, potential travel for international sourcing, and a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Reports to: Plant Procurement Manager, supervises: Procurement Support Staff.
