About the Role

The Water Research Commission is seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Chief Risk Officer. As a key member of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction in implementing and performing ongoing management of risks, ethics, business continuity, and compliance frameworks.

Key responsibilities include leading and managing compliance functions, risk management functions, as well as ethics functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in risk management within the public sector.

We are looking for an individual with a three-year NQF level 7 qualification in Internal Audit/Risk Management/Accounting or a related field, and membership of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA). A post-graduate qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in risk management within the Public Sector
  • 5 years of which should be in management position(s)
