We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at JDJ Diagnostics. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality medical laboratory services by performing routine analytical procedures, maintaining equipment, and controlling quality assurance within the sphere of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Meet testing targets within specified timeframes and standards
- Receive, distribute, and process samples within turnaround times and according to standard operating procedures
- Execute systems to meet 95% of turnaround performance
- Actively manage stock levels within agreed parameters and safety stock levels
- Ensure that all instrumentation has adequate stock levels for optimal performance
- Accurately process patient samples
- Implement good laboratory practices referencing SANAS/ISO 15189 standards
- Ensure the correct application of quality assurance processes
- Run internal and external quality control samples as per relevant standard operating procedures
- Ensure that equipment is maintained and calibrated in line with defined processes and procedures
- Ensure that all staff are compliant to all health and safety rules and regulations to prevent incidents and minimize exposure to risks to personnel and the environment
- Administer sorting and distribution of samples according to set standard operating procedures
- Process sample registration (logging) and queries according to set standard operating procedures
- Dispatch specimens for processing in accordance with prescribed standard operating procedures and monitor progress and filing of reports
- Investigate bottlenecks in pre-analytical laboratory processes and ensure timely resolution of challenges
- Relevant science degree or diploma
- HPCSA registration will be an advantage
