Are you a qualified Metrologist looking for a new challenge? Headhunters has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer - Metrology to join our team in South Africa.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in metrology, including experience working with CMM software and Quality specific training. The estimated salary for this role is between R450,000 and R600,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled individual who can take the lead on Gauging designs, approvals, and create work instructions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a factory environment, and have a strong attention to detail.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Creating Measuring Programs for measurement of new and existing wheels
  • Providing effective feedback to all relevant departments, if dimensional deviations or defects identified
  • Preparing APQP/PPAP/ISIR documentation according to Customer requirements
  • Participating in Problem solving activities, FMEA/Control Plan Meetings (Part of APQP)
  • Conducting Routine testing and Product audits
  • Taking the lead on Gauging designs, approval and also creating work instructions thereof
  • Calibrating Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions, as well as all relevant documentation
  • Managing external calibration processes
  • Drafting and following MSA Plan relative to required R&R studies
  • Conducting Capability studies/ad-hoc measurements as part of investigations; leading investigations into wheels not meeting requirements
  • Maintaining relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports, registers and issue levels)
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will require a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with experience working with CMM software and Quality specific training. Additionally, they will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a factory environment.
